eyelid surgery, blepharoplasty
Eyelid surgery helps to correct puffiness and sagging skin surrounding the eyes. It is a relatively simple surgery with effective results.
In the ageing process muscles around the eyes start drooping. Then the fat is relocated, causing swelling in the area. The thin skin around the eyes also loses its elasticity.
Eyelid surgery helps to:
- refresh sad and tired appearance
- expand the field of vision
- remove bags under the eyes
- reduce swelling in the face
For better results eyelid surgery is often combined with facelifts or thread lift.
Surgery at Christinas Clinic
Both upper and lower eyelid surgeries are performed at our clinic. It is also possible to do both, but there must be a period of at least three months between the surgeries.
1) Lower eyelids
Outside lower eyelid surgery
Incisions of the surgery are made in the outer part of the lower eyelid, just under the eyelashes to hide the scars. Then an incision is made in the muscle to reach the fat deposits and remove or reposition them. Finally, excess skin is removed along with parts of the muscle (if needed) and the wound is closed with sutures.
The method is appropriate for patients who have swelling under the eyes with some excess skin.
Inside lower eyelid surgery
Incisions are made inside the lower eyelid. Then an incision is made in the conjunctiva to reach the fat deposits and remove them. Finally, the wound is closed with sutures.
This method is appropriate for patients with little or no excess skin under the eyes.
2) Upper eyelid surgery
During the surgery, incisions are made in the fold of the upper eyelid. Through the incision fatty deposits are removed or relocated. Finally, excess skin is removed together with parts of the muscle (if needed) and the wound is closed with sutures.
