Biorevitalisation and PRP: moisturised skin and beautiful hair
Dr Mari Laasma, the surgeon at Christinas Clinic, says that the beautiful and sunny summer has added nice colour to our complexions, but this is also accompanied by signs of aging, dryness and dulling of the skin. Luckily, we have a solution to restore the glow to your skin and the shine to your hair, making them beautiful again.
Dr Laasma, what do you recommend for restoring the glow to your skin after a hot and sunny summer?
After a beautiful summer, it is important to revitalise your skin and restore its moisture balance. A good way to achieve this is with hyaluronic acid injections or a biorevitalisation procedure, for which we use various effective and fast-acting preparations (Juvéderm Volite, Juvéderm Hydrate). These are like small biological ‘shots’ that result in a more deeply moisturised, glowing and clear skin that lasts for several months. Thanks to hyaluronic acid injections, everyone, regardless of age or skin type, can have moisturised skin. And the procedure is suitable for your face, your skin including the décolleté area, as well as your hands. The results will be visible to the eye.
The PRP procedure also provides excellent anti-aging results and hair growth stimulation. In the course of this procedure, the blood plasma obtained from the person’s own blood is injected into the selected area. In the course of the PRP plasma lift, the skin becomes smoother, the complexion more even and the tired appearance disappears. I recommend undergoing the procedure before important events, for instance, a wedding, to quickly add luminosity to the skin.
One could say that the skin care trend popular throughout the world in 2018 is hyaluronic acid injections and PRP plasma lifting, or a combination of the two.
The person’s own blood plasma is used during the PRP procedure, and therefore, this is one of the most natural methods. I also mentioned that in the case of hyaluronic acid injections, we are dealing with biological matter. So, what does this mean exactly? And will the injections improve the appearance of the skin?
Hyaluronic acid is a cellular agent that helps to synthesise collagen and is responsible for building our tissues. As we age, the synthesis of hyaluronic acid is reduced and the skin become thinner and more wrinkled. The moisturising injections help to restore the natural supplies of hyaluronic acid, and thereby the appearance of the skin – the blotches of pigment recede, the healing of rosacea, acne and other pathological processes is accelerated, etc., The skin is moisturised and more elastic immediately after the procedure.
In addition to moisturising the facial skin, I definitely recommend using hyaluronic acid injections to moisturise the décolleté area. The décolleté is usually very exposed to the sun and often people don’t even notice that the first signs of aging occur there.
When comparing the procedures for skin revitalisation using creams, PRP or hyaluronic acid, which should one prefer?
Both creams and PRP serve a biorevitalisation purpose. Hyaluronic acid injections and PRP are significantly more effective than creams, because in the case of the former, the moisturising reaches the skin layers that no cream can penetrate. There are no blood vessels between the epidermis and the derma, and therefore, creams are simply not absorbed by the deepest skin layer – the derma. And the effects of the injections last longer than those of creams.
After the biorevitalisation, a moisturising follow-up procedure, which takes 30 minutes, can be completed at the Christinas Clinic. This will form a protective layer on the skin, stimulate the renewal of skin cells and accelerate and maximise the result. In addition, Dermastir cream, which supports and prolongs the effect of the injections, can be purchased at the clinic or from our online store.
How much time does it take to recover from the procedure?
Recovery from the procedure is fast, but depends on the preparation being injected. Just like with other injection procedures, slight bruising may occur. When undergoing biorevitalisation using Juvéderm Hydrate, it would be wise to schedule the treatment toward the weekend, for example on Friday, because small welts will appear on the skin after the procedure that are absorbed into the skin within two to three days. By the time you go to work on Monday, they will have nicely receded. In the case of Juvéderm Volite or PRP, welts will not appear.
How long do the results last?
How long the moisturising results of the hyaluronic acid injections last depends on which treatment is chosen – in the case of the Juvéderm Hydrate injections, three to four months; and a whole year in the case of Juvéderm Volite.
PRP’s corrective impact on the quality of the skin lasts about a month, but the procedure also affects skin quality in the long term. In order to achieve the best results, I recommend that you use a special acid skin peel product, obtained from the clinic, to treat your skin at home before and after the procedure. PRP can be repeated up to three times at intervals of several weeks.
